The New Jazz Man – Jose James
The jazz newbie JOSÉ JAMES’s soulful and seductive rhythms split your personality.
While listening to JOSÉ your brain gets divided into two parts just like in case of Murakami while writing his famous “Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World”.
The right hemisphere of your brain floats into the depth of a mild world, where smooth, jammy, swinging rhythms get intruded by the active, groovy, somewhere rude and mad left hemisphere jigs portraying the routine of crazy vast metropolis. And you are at second on the right hemisphere betraying it suddenly with the left one. And, thus you are on a constant flight between these two worlds, where each is unique and thrilling.
With No Beginning and No End, James’ third album and first with Blue Note Records José James sums up how he feels about music right now.
“I don’t want to be confined to any particular style. I decided I didn’t want to be considered a jazz singer anymore and that was really freeing. Once I realized that jazz singing is just something that I do and it’s just a label, it freed me as an artist to just write without any boundaries.” says the singer. As a result we get a taste of James’ intoxicating blend of jazz, hip-hop, and R&B.
No Beginning and No End comes out January 22, 2013 and is available to preorder on iTUNES.
