Edward Scissortongue – Better.Luck.Next.Life
An extremely well put together album, with all of the tracks being produced by Glasgow based Lamplighter.
Edward Scissortongue is the third contact play member to release a solo album on High Focus Records. It’s an extremely well put together album, with all of the tracks being produced by Glasgow based Lamplighter.
Better.Luck.Next.Life. feels different to the previous releases from High Focus. Dike and Baxter’s albums (which are also classics) are packed full of amazing features from UK Hip Hop royalty, where as this album, apart from one track featuring the entire Contact Play line up, only features Scissortongue on each track.
The album opens with his open confession that he’s never written anything that’s worthy of selling, from this point you can see that he’s poured his heart into the project. The writing on this album is incredible, if you have the preconception that hip hop is simple punchlines, bragging and weak concepts, you can leave that idea at the door. Each track is a monologue worthy of being the plot to a film (dark, dark films), taking you through post apocalyptic worlds that are falling into dissent.
For a hip hop album to have such a strong concept is incredible, I can honestly say I’ve listened to this album on repeat for the past week and I’m no where near bored of it.
Below you can watch the video for Spastic Max, the third track off of the album. I strongly recommend that you go and buy this album direct from High Focus Records right now.
The artist takes architecture to a new level – literally, with his mind-bending series of flying houses.
