Hop Hop is not dead, it’s alive and well. A$AP Rocky is a prime example of diversification in hip-hop.
I’m not gonna spend this article talking about the four elements and how far hip-hop has changed since shell toes and breakers. I just wanna bring to light how the overused statement ‘hip-hop is dead’ is flawed, and the opposite is happening all around the World.
A$AP Rocky is a prime example in the US, Piff Gang and the likes of High Focus Records in the UK, are all examples of diversification in hip-hop. It’s not dead, it’s alive and well. If you’re a purist you might be upset that it’s not the same as it was, but who doesn’t want change?
A$AP Rocky has been gaining plenty of attention lately, with his Houston inspired Cloud Rap, you can expect to hear lyrics about Harlem, smoking weed, sippin’ on lean and A$AP being the crew.
You can’t deny his energy and right to success. Check out the video for his tracks ‘Peso’ and ‘Purple Swag’ below.
The artist takes architecture to a new level – literally, with his mind-bending series of flying houses.
