Nick Frank’s Underground
A strong emphasis on contemporary design and a talent for shooting everyday surroundings in new ways.
Photographer Nick Frank‘s series of photos based on a minimalist, futuristic and surreal Munich U-Bahn, have an eerie, deserted feel to them. With a strong emphasis on contemporary design and a talent for shooting everyday surroundings in new ways, Frank has captured some powerful images of the subway.
Frank shoots his photos early on Sunday mornings, ensuring the stations will be relatively empty. His images represent the more aesthetic and cinematic side of a minimalistic industrial design, resembling a scene from an Asimov or Dick sci-fi story. Despite the empty, slightly unnerving images, the splashes of strong colour make them seem nonetheless inviting.
The artist takes architecture to a new level – literally, with his mind-bending series of flying houses.
